Some Control Changes

Welcome to another chat. We survived our family at Thanksgiving, and now we must make it through the holiday season. If you’re like me, you’re ready to settle down for a healthy bout of day drinking. Don’t get me wrong, I love the holidays, but sometimes they can be overwhelming. I hope you all can find time to relax and recharge before we run headlong into the buzzsaw that 2024 will be.

Control is something I haven’t had over a few of my works. This is mostly due to my White Creek books being published with Sirens Call Publications. They were great, and I enjoyed working with them. However, the rights to my three White Creek books are now mine again. They are officially out of print and no longer for sale. Fear not, they will be back once I get everything back and re-released. I still do have paperback copies over at the store while supplies last. On that note, the 25% off sale lasts until Thursday, so you can save some money in the long run too. So, head over (right here) and shop till you drop!

What does this mean?

What this means is I have White Creek back. Before, they had right of first refusal for anything I wrote taking place in the town. I am no longer bound by that part of the contracts. This opens up White Creek and Frank Hill for more stories in a variety of ways. Now, I have the freedom to get new White Creek pieces out to you in quicker fashion and in different formats. This means there is the possibility of audio books or a serial running here on the site. The future may at times be bleak for White Creek, but it looks good for getting new tales out for you.

I won’t lie, I liked having them with SCP. One thing I’m sorely behind on is keeping up on the business side of things. In the years I’ve been doing this, I still don’t have hardly any of the answers about keeping my work marketed and handled as well as I should. I’ve slowly learned some stuff here and there, but the covers and things of that nature are not my thing. First, computers hate me, and second, I’m not artistically inclined. So, the thought of cover creation scares me. What really scares me? Doing everything myself, lol.

I’ve managed.

But, here we are.

The plan is to get the three books re-released before starting anything new. Lord knows, I have about four projects backed up right now. I think I should get those finished first. On the flipside though, the turnaround on getting things released once they’re completed will be faster to make up for me taking so long to write them. I hope when I get caught up, you’ll still be here waiting with me to see what bad stuff happens to the poor sleepy town.

Okay, I need to go and play with my new Hallmark Haunted Mansion stuff. I also need to prep for three cons next year. Hopefully, I’ll see some of you out on the road! Take care of yourself, and don’t let the holidays get you down (or the world for that matter because it is a shit hole right now).

See you later,

Brent
