The best words an author can type are “The End.” Nothing is more satisfying than finally typing those two little words. They may be small, but they mean so much. It is the end of a long and torturous journey into a writer’s mind and soul. It can be as simple as a few months of work or as much as years. I know it takes me too long to finish a book, but I’m trying to get more out, my friends.
This past week, I typed those words for the first time in a long time. Finishing The Eldritch Night was a long time coming. Writing a novel with zero ties to any other of my books felt good. The first pass has been completed, and the book is in the hands of pre-readers. I’m excited by the book, and I hope when it comes out, you all like it too.
This past weekend was Evansville Horror Con. It was a phenomenal weekend. I got to meet and talk to a ton of people, saw some old friends, and sold a lot of books. It was my best weekend ever, and I want to thank everyone who came out to support horror. Seeing everyone support local authors, artists, and dealers was genuinely remarkable.
Now, I have to get going. I have two big projects to work on. First, I have to do a revision on the secret project. This is the second one, but it gets better with each change we need to make due to issues out of our control. Second, I have started the final book in my Dying Days trilogy. I want to complete it and launch it at Author Con St. Louis in October. Dying Days creator Armand Rosamilia will be there, and I want to see an old friend and thank him for the chance to go on my adventures in his world.
Time to get going and back to the grindstone. I have the new Bruce Dickinson album to rock out on, and the new Judas Priest record will drop to join the rotation on Friday. You all take care, and don’t be scared of what goes bump in the night.
Take care,
Brent
