The air gets cooler on occasion, and the days grow shorter. Fall will soon be here, so Halloween is around the corner! Once the calendar flips to October, it’s the most wonderful time of the year. This year, I had the pleasure of hitting Universal Studios Orlando for the 33rd Halloween Horror Nights. I didn’t know what to expect, but I didn’t leave disappointed.
I love all things horror—that’s no secret. Seriously, I’m a horror author, so it checks out. If you love horror, then this yearly event is perfect for you. Universal transforms large swaths of the park into a nightmare world once the sun starts to set. Halloween Horror Nights let you experience 10 haunted houses, 5 scare zones, and a horror-themed show. Unique-themed food booths and drinks help you immerse yourself in the diabolical haunted attractions.
The event’s themes change each year. Yes, it can still be hot at night, but it’s Florida. I didn’t let it stop me from having a scary good time. Some houses are better than others, but they all are fun to experience. I hope to go every year from now on. There are other things and discussions I want to have about the party, but I’m saving that for another day…and another site. One of my future plans is to spin a second site off of this place.
I’m creating a site to discuss my travels and travel-related topics. The main focus will be where I’ve been recently, food and beer reviews from my trips, Disney topics, and Universal Orlando takes. I’ve also broadened my palette for here. I want to focus on general horror as well as my writing. There will be more book/music/film reviews, interviews, and regular posts. The reviews won’t be detailed, but fun hot takes to give you a general idea about the subject. Both sites will also get videos and live streams slowly integrated into the pages.
I hope you’ll find more to enjoy and join the conversations. Maybe you’ll even find something to like about the other website as well. Right now, I’m preparing for AuthorCon St. Louis in a couple of weeks. It is my last convention for the year, and I have a deep dive into conventions from this year coming soon after. If you’re new, please hit the Follow button and join the horrific madness here. We’re all a little mad here…
What I’m working on: Dying Days: Apocalypse (21k of 35k words), 12 Souls (new stand-alone novel), and a couple of short stories.
What I’m watching: The Paranormal Activity movie series.
What I’m reading: Love and Hate in the Time of Covid by Brian Keene.
What I’m listening to: Exodus is playing at any given time right now.
Have a safe day, and be good to each other!
Later,
Brent
