Good afternoon! There are times I get behind on watching the newest horror flicks until I have a break in the work schedule to catch up. I’m in one of those times now where I can view a few and give my hot takes. Today, I offer my thoughts on Abigail from Universal Pictures.
My love for the Universal Monster franchises is pretty well known, but they still continue to put out some solid horror flicks.
Abigail tells the story of a group of hired hands kidnaping a young ballerina to ransom to her rich father. When they take her to the house where they’re supposed to wait for the exchange to be made, things quickly fall apart.
Things always tend to go south when a group of strangers who commit a kidnapping become locked in a house, and discover their captive is a vampire.
Overall, the film has some very gory scenes, and the twists are okay. The twists made the plot more interesting as the crew discover more about each other and their situation. The cast is fantastic, and I didn’t feel like anyone brought the others down. Plotting and pacing were fairly even and didn’t drag on. Toward the end however, I felt a few cuts to tighten the conclusion would have benefitted the overall film.
I highly recommend giving Abigail a look this October or anytime.
I rate the movie 4 of 5 Tombstones.
I have to get back to business, so you all take of yourself and always be kind to others.
Later,
Brent
