Something Wicked

Wellpaperback. The cover has been finished, and I think Jack Wallen knocked it out of the park again. It fits the mood of the book perfectly. I’m not going to reveal the cover quite yet, but I’m ready to let you wonderful readers in on the back cover blurb.

Jacob Hadley is on the brink. His successful writing career, marriage, and sanity are slipping away. Given an ultimatum to get clean and write his next novel, Jacob goes to his family’s remote cabin deep in the primordial forests.

Once he arrives, things are not as they seem. The ghosts of his family’s past threaten Jacob as he spirals into madness. What secret does his family harbor? What strange sounds and creatures does Jacob find around the cabin at night?

Jacob must face his past and future in a place out of time and space while the weirdness around him grows. Jacob will face his ancestors for his soul in the hidden realm his family has protected for generations. What’s real or fantasy? Find out in The Eldritch Night.

The main ideals of Jacob’s journey are about losing yourself and how you cope with life. Jacob’s coping mechanism is alcohol. One discussion topic with a pre-reader centered on the line, “Is the liquor all I’ve become?” How much do authors rely on outside forces to keep them going? I won’t lie; I usually had a few beverages when writing. Now, I’ve backed off almost all of it at any time. I’ve had to answer the question myself, and this book is the answer.

Sure, it’s a weird ride, but I hope you can join Jacob on his journey into self-discovery and general weird stuff when it drops.

Once I drop the cover, I’ll also post the pre-order links. I enjoyed taking the trip with Jacob, and I hope you do, too. Now, back to working on Dying Days: Apocalypse and assembling the new collection.

Until next time,

Brent

Oh, yeah… be careful of the weirdos Monday for the eclipse. I’m in the area of totality, and I don’t trust people to not freak out. So, stay safe, my friends!
