First off, I hope everyone had a great New Year’s Day! Ringing in 2021 brought an end to the nightmare we shared together in 2020. If you’re here, congratulations on making it through. It was a tough year for many people, but I’m thankful for all of you for being on this journey with me. 2020 closing also ended my first decade of being an author. In 2011, I had my first sale and attended my first convention as a guest. The road from 2011 until now has been one with joys and sorrows. Writing has brought me heartache as well as introduced me to a group of people who I consider family. The ride has been something I wouldn’t change for the world.
When I look back, I’m okay with everything that’s happened to me. I’ve stood on my own, and after a slow last couple of years, 2021 is shaping up to be huge. The year will see four novels, one or two anthologies, and possibly a collection tying into the White Creek world.
First off will be Dragonflies from Sirens Call Publications. It is the next White Creek book and finds Frank Hill and Chris Collins fighting an ancient evil quickly taking over the minds and souls of the citizens. A snow storm has cut the town off from the rest of the world, and there will be Hell to pay for the people if Frank and Chris can’t stop it. Check out The Calling now and get caught up on the White Creek saga. (On Amazon here)
The second book for 2021 is Dying Days: Zealot. This is the middle chapter of my adventures in Armand Rosamilia’s world. Nora and the gang head north toward the Florida-Georgia border, but run afoul of a religious group who worship the zombies and have a twisted idea of the new world. There are some surprises and new characters who will shape the final chapter in my trilogy. The first book is out there now for your reading pleasure (Purchase here). If you haven’t checked out Armand’s series yet, go and do it. You won’t be disappointed. (Check out Armand’s Amazon page here)
Book three in 2021 is the final chapter of the Southern Devils series. The trilogy’s end brings the Confederates one last chance to change the Civil War’s outcome. Mark Duvall and the rest of the Union heroes must rally to defeat Peter Conner and his quest for revenge one last time. (Pick up the book one and book two in the trilogy now!)
I hope to have the forth book ready for November. It will be the second book in the Death Inc. series. I have the idea for Milo’s next adventure as a Reaper at Death Inc., and it won’t be easy on him as he tries to reap a soul who can jump bodies in the living realm. (Check out book one now!)
Coming soon will be Employee Picks. This is the second book with the team that brought you, Disquieted. If 80’s horror movies are your thing, then this anthology is for you. We have also discussed doing another book for later in the year, so we’ll be sure to let everyone know what is coming next. Being part of this project allowed me to play a small cameo role in Dillon Brown’s excellent short film, The Keeper. If you want to go laugh at me and enjoy a good horror flick, head to YouTube (click here) where you can watch it for free. If you haven’t picked up Disquieted yet, head to Amazon and fix that now (click right here).
The collection is still in development, so I’ll let you know about it later as more concrete plans are made.
Lastly, I’m keeping all the books I have pricing control over at .99 for the month of January. Spend your stimulus check on some good old horror fiction to start the new year off right! I do have paperback copies for sale also directly from me. These will be signed and sent to your mailbox. Hit me up at brentabellfiction@gmail.com to purchase copies!
To end things, I’m going to leave you with two pictures. One is me from Horrorfind 2011, and the last one is a more recent photo. I want to give you one last thank you for following me and reading my work. Hopefully, I can get some signings and conventions booked this next year as we try to get back to normal by the end of 2021.
Thanks again and goodnight,
Brent
Looking forward to reading your upcoming books. Happy 2021.
I hope you like them. There are some passages in Southern Devils 3 that are some I’m most proud of.
